Early Barvoier et Toso Murano Rugiada Glass Wall Sconces
Extremely rare hand blown Murano glass wall sconces with angel wing inspired shades blown in the Rugiada technique. The feathered top finial, flower stems, wings, and grape ornamentation are all mounted on brass and are detachable--a sconce, or two, like this with a complete set of ornaments is a very rare find. To preserve authenticity, the European wiring has not been replaced and the original Barovier et Toso label is still attached to the brass fixtures which adds important collectible value.
Based on the hand blown nature of these wall lamps, the dimensions and forms vary slightly.
The glass is in excellent condition with professional minor restoration work to the grape ornaments which does not affect the integrity nor the display and can only be seen under scrutinized magnification.
Reference on the design of these lamps can be found in the Barovier et Toso sales catalog where it is documented as part of a series called "Grand Hotel" , model # 4662/2. A magnificent addition to any glorious setting! And a rare find.
Can be sold individually or together as shown.
